In 2008, St Helens Council received a three-year non ring fenced general grant termed the Area Based Grant (ABG), which was an amalgamation of several individual grant streams. Following a transitional period, a zero based review was undertaken and an application and assessment process then took place in Autumn 2008. Projects were assessed against key national and local priorities, as set out within the Local Area Agreement (LAA) and Sustainable Community Plan (SCP).
Following this assessment, 64 projects were awarded grant funding to deliver their projects, which commenced in April 2009, and all projects now have two years to deliver their agreed outputs and outcomes in 2009/10 and 2010/11.
The ABG Projects range from large scale multi million pound schemes to smaller single output initiatives. Most projects are focused towards benefiting the entire borough, however some specifically target hard to reach groups or deprived neighbourhoods where needs are highest. All seven Council Portfolio's and all five Partnership Thematic Groups have projects relating to their subject area covering a wide variety of their key targets and goals.
All projects have agreed funding arrangements, projected performance and financial profiles for the two year period. Progress against these is monitored on a quarterly basis, and an overall ABG Quarterly Monitoring Report is compiled from the data supplied by Project Officers. These reports are monitored by the Council and Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). Below you can view all current reports produced to date.
For those involved with ABG Projects you can access the ABG Monitoring Framework (ABGMF) here.
